An Hr Lens – New Trends Towards Mind Wellbeing

An employee is the backbone of the organization and a valuable resource for businesses. In
a competitive world, focus on employees’ mental wellbeing helps them to be emotionally
strong and resilient to handle the challenges and helps in growth of the organization.
Employee engagement is based on the vision and values towards mind health as it brings in
an element of belonging and being cared for not only for productivity but as a valuable
contributor.
There is change in the mental health policies adopted by different organizations to
destigmatize, non-discriminate and use innovative approaches to bring in employee
wellness programs. They may range from employee assistance programs which includes
individual counseling to employees and family members, wellness coaching on work,
programs to build inner resilience, activity kiosks on mental health awareness, psychological
safety and first aid. This is done online or onsite support, through apps, digital resource bag
for providing right support and information. The challenges of employees in hybrid/remote
working can be handled with an effective Employee Assistance Partner to avoid crises or
critical incidents.
Human Resources are the ambassadors of helping employees become resilient, enhancing
workplace morale and motivation, and understanding employee needs. This calls for
formulating and redrafting policies and introducing innovative ways to promote overall
wellbeing. By collaborating with the stakeholders and managers they can drive in the
flexibility that can help employees and managers to find ways to manage work and take
care of mental health. This is linked to inclusion and part of Diversion, Equity, Inclusion and
Accessibility [DEIA] standards and programs.
A part of mental health policies are regular and immediate access to counseling support and
programs to combat critical issues, mental health torch bearer programs to have open
communication and overcome stigma, awareness and mind health orientations.
Leaders and HR by prioritizing and by having a visionary initiatives to handle the challenges
can create an open, safe, inclusive work culture placing significant importance on the mind
health and employee wellness.
